Find a film you half-remember

You remember a scene, a setting or a feeling, but not the title. That is a good fit for Search Fragments.

Search Fragments is a free, non-commercial prototype. No account needed. It works on half-remembered songs, films, books, TV, people, historical events, inventions, sport, places, art and culture, and it can also check a specific claim.

Example queries

Written in the way people usually describe these things:

  • “a recent film where a stern scientist sings karaoke on a navy ship the night before a big mission”
  • “a war film, not in English, about a teenager who enlists after his family is attacked”
  • “a documentary about a director whose own jungle shoot nearly fell apart”

How to ask

  • Say roughly when you saw it and whether it was recent or old.
  • Describe one scene in plain words, even if you are not sure of the details.
  • Mention the language or country if you have a hunch, and say it is a hunch.
  • Describe what you remember in your own words. Partial and uncertain clues are fine.
  • Say which details you are sure of and which are guesses.
  • In Claude or Cursor, ask your assistant to use Search Fragments, for example: “Use Search Fragments to find …”.
  • You get a named answer with a source, a ranked shortlist to check by eye, or an honest no-resolution. It is built to decline rather than guess.
